Jimmy Halliday, RIP

Is údar mór brón do CLG na Gaillimhe an scéala go bhfuil ár n-iar Chathaoirleach Contae Jimmy Halliday imithe ar shlí na firínne.

Jimmy had a lifelong involvement in the GAA, serving as Chairperson of his club Dunmore MacHales, as well as fulfilling many other roles in the club as both player and administrator over a long and distinguished career.

His love of Galway GAA was relentless and he served as Galway GAA Chairperson from 1986 to 1989, among the highlights of his term in office were the back-to-back All Ireland Senior Hurling titles won in 1987 and 1988.

On behalf of Galway GAA, we express our deepest sympathies to his son Michael, daughters Ailish and Eleanor, sisters Mona, Anne and Jodie, brothers Jack and Michael, his grandchildren and extended family members, on his passing. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends and the whole Galway GAA community.

Please Note: As a mark of respect to Jimmy, the County Committee Meeting due to take place tomorrow night (Monday 10th) has been postponed and is rescheduled to Thursday night, October 13th in Lár Ionad at 8.00pm.
