Galway into Leinster U-21 Final against Wexford
Galway 3-13 Kilkenny 1-17
Goals win games was again true this evening in Tullamore when Galway beat the ‘Cats’ by two points to qualify for the Leinster final, Evan Niland who scored 1-6 was the ‘man of the Match’ while Ciarian Fahy and Sean Bleahene also raised green flags for the winners . The early exchanges saw both sides finding it difficult to score as the shot eleven wides inside the first quarter at that stage the winners had built a one point lead 0-2 to 0-1.
Galway had the assistance of the breeze in the opening half and had a slight two point lead at the break 1-8 to 0-9, but in the opening minutes of part two a Kevin Cooney point and a Bleheane goal give the winners a six point advantage, and Galway continued to dominate the game as Fahy and Cooney added further points and with twelve minutes remaining the winners had built up a 3-12 to 0-12 lead. Four points in a row for Kilkenny cut the margin to five; Kevin Cooney then added a point for the Tribesmen and in added time John Donnelly finally breached the goal for Kilkenny to finish the scoring and leave Galway with two points to spare at the finish.
