Travel Info - Double Header in Pearse Stadium

The GAA have confirmed a double header of Allianz League Fixtures will take place next Saturday, 16th March in Pearse Stadium.

Allianz Hurling League Quarter-Finals

Galway v Wexford, 1.30 pm

Allianz Football League Round 5

Galway v Roscommon, 3.30 pm

Important Information for Supporters travelling to Pearse Stadium

A Chairde,

On behalf of Galway GAA and the Pearse Stadium Committee we welcome all GAA Supporters to Salthill on Saturday next, 16th of March for the Allianz Hurling League Quarter Final between Galway and Wexford, which will  throw-in at 1.30pm and the Allianz Football League Round 6 between Galway and Roscommon which will throw-in at 3.30pm.

These games on Saturday, will result in increased traffic in the Galway, Salthill and Pearse Stadium areas and we urge all Supporters to arrive early, in order to avoid traffic congestion and potential delays entering the Stadium.

An Garda Síochana will implement a local area Traffic Management Plan and this will result in a number of access roads in the residential areas adjacent to Pearse Stadium being closed. It is important to note that only residents with Car Pass Permits and those with Official Car Park Passes will be allowed access to those Residential areas.

There are ample Car Parks in Galway City and Salthill and we encourage patrons to use these car parks and walk or take public transport to/from Salthill. The 401 Bus from Eyre Square to Salthill will operate every 20 minutes throughout the day.

Garda Traffic Cordon

Ground will open to patrons at 12pm and a Garda Traffic Cordon will be in place restricting vehicular access to residents and permit holders only from 12pm until 5.00pm. Barriers will be in place on either end of Dr Mannix Road, at Rockbarton Road, at Dalysfort Road and on Rosary Lane. There will be no through traffic on any of these routes between the times indicated. Again, we ask all Supporters to arrive early, to park in the designated Car Parks and to park legally and responsibly, at all times. Designated Car Parks will be signposted.

Recommended Traffic Access Route

It is expected that the majority of both visiting supporters will approach the city via the M6 and it is recommended that they continue on M6/N6 route across Quincentenary Bridge and continue along Bishop O'Donnell Road. Progress through the city (unless intending to park and walk/bus to Salthill) is not recommended as the pedestrian crossing at Spanish Arch will be particularly busy on Saturday as will the retail parks and supermarkets on city part of Headford Road.

Finally, we appeal to all Supporters to be conscious, mindful and respectful to the needs of our neighbours and local residents.

Please distribute and communicate this important notice to all your Clubs, Supporters and your Local Media.

In Summary:

1. Please ensure that you buy your ticket in advance!

2. Please travel with care and arrive early!

2. Please use designated Car Parks and park legally and responsibly.

3. Please be respectful and mindful of the needs of Local Residents

4. Enjoy the game

Thank You for your co-operation and your support.

 Séamus Ó Gráda,

Runaí, Coiste Chontae na Gaillimhe
