Liam Mellows are through to their first Galway Senior Hurling Championship Final since 1970 after edging out Cappataggle by 0-13 to 1-9 at Kenny Park Athenry in the semi-final.
The winners had to withstand a strong second half fightback by Cappataggle after taking a 0-7 to 0-3 lead into the break.
A goal by Jarlath Mannion brought his side back into the game and going into added time ‘Mellows were battling hard to stay ahead. Tadhg Haran was on target from frees and his side was a point ahead when, with almost the last puck, Cappatagle missed a great opportunity from a ’65 to earn a draw.
