Galway captured a fourth successive TG4 Connacht ladies football championship crown in dramatic fashion. Patricia Gleeson kicked a late winning point for the Tribeswomen to edge out Cora Staunton-inspired Mayo at Elvery’s McHale Park in Castlebar. Galway beat Kilkenny 3-22 to 1-17 at O'Connor Park Tullamore  to set up a Leinster decider with Wexford in a fortnight’s time. Annual Festival of hurling in honour of Niall McInerney By Michael O Connor.

350 hurlers will descend on Galway next weekend for the Annual Niall McInerney Connacht GAA academy day at under 16, 17 and minor level. Initially the event was at Under 16 level but in the last number of years the event has expanded.
